Photo Booth Software for Windows: What Your Booth PC Needs
Many photo booths, such as magic mirrors, column booths and vending machines, have a computer inside. Photo booth software for Windows is what turns that PC into a booth: it controls the camera, places the event template, prints the strip and stores the gallery. Here is what good software should do, what it asks of your hardware and which one we suggest keeping an eye on.
Honest note: the software we recommend, SNAPPHOTO for Windows by Snap360, is on its official launch list. It cannot be downloaded yet: you sign up and they let you know on release day.
What Photo Booth Software Does on Windows
- Capture: single shots or strip sequences, a countdown and a live preview with the event frame while guests pose.
- Templates: strip, postcard or square layouts with the client's logo and fonts.
- Printing: straight to the dye sublimation printer, with copies per shot and a cap per event.
- Kiosk mode: full screen with no access to the desktop, so nobody closes the program mid party.
- Digital delivery: an event gallery and QR download alongside the paper copy.

What It Needs From the PC and Gear
These are the requirements Snap360 publishes for SNAPPHOTO for Windows, and they are a useful reference for any PC based booth:
| Item | Requirement |
|---|---|
| System | Windows 10 or 11, 64 bit |
| Computer | Mid range, no dedicated graphics card |
| Screen | Full HD or 4K; touch recommended for kiosk mode |
| Camera | Canon EOS over USB, USB webcam or built in camera |
| Printer | DNP dye sublimation over USB |
| Internet | Only to activate the licence and upload to the cloud |
What to Check Before Choosing
- It works offline. Venue wifi is unreliable: capture, template and printing should all run locally.
- How it talks to the printer. Ask which models have actually been tested and how the queue behaves when paper runs out.
- How many PCs the licence covers. With several booths, moving the licence between machines matters.
- What happens if you do not renew. Some programs stop opening; others keep your events and templates.
- Whether it shares an account with your video app. If you also run a 360 platform, having photos and videos in one gallery saves work.

- PIN protected kiosk mode and a password protected operator panel.
- Full events offline, with photos saved in a folder and exportable as ZIP.

Which Booths From Our Store Fit
The software needs a camera and a printer it can control. In our store you will find the 22 inch magic mirror photo booth, available with a Canon camera and DNP printer, the vending photo booth, which integrates a Canon DSLR and a DNP DS620, and the DNP DS620 printer itself if you already have a booth. Before installing any software on a booth, ask us and we will confirm compatibility.
What About 360 Video?
360 video is not recorded from the PC: the phone or tablet mounted on the spinning platform does it, with the Snap360 app. To compare options for that side, see our guide to the best 360 photo booth apps. And for desktop software for DSLR cameras, we cover the best known names in best DSLR photo booth software.
